Councilmember Position 2
I was born in Newton MA. I started working as a manager in retail when I was 18 years old. In 1988 I moved to Rainier and worked at the Rainier Market until 2001. While there I got to know many of the wonderful people living in Rainier. After I left the market I worked for Big Lots, as the manager in their Olympia store, until I retired. My hobbies are woodworking, gardening and community service.
My wife, Linda, and I each brought four children into our marriage. Together we are actively working in our community to make it a safer and better place for children to live. I urge all citizens to get involved and be part of our great city. Join us. Make a difference in our community. All you have to do is participate and join in the fun.
I was appointed to council in June 2017 and look forward to this opportunity to represent our city.
Councilmember Position 3
Tom Arnbrister started his council career on January 1, 2014. Tom was born and raised in Washington State and has always lived in a rural community. Tom and his wife of 24 years moved to Rainier in 2008, but have been acquainted with the City for many years due to family and friends in the area.
Tom’s career over the past 25 years has allowed him to be involved politically and on a consulting basis enabled him to work hand-in-hand with many small communities to assist in growth and sustainability.
Tom’s goals are to be a part of a team that is focused on growth and sustainability within this community and at the same time insure that all the citizens of the City of Rainier will receive the best representation for the well-being of our community.

It has been my pleasure to serve the residents and businesses of the City of Rainier as a Council Member, a Planning Commissioner, and as Chairman of the Rainier Arts Commission. We live in a great community filled with exceptional people! I believe service to ones community and country is a responsibility of citizenship. I serve without pay, donating the council stipend to support Rainier Parks each year.
